Beautiful Concrete Façade
Competition entry
Douple shell structure - kaksoiskuori - was introduced in this competition entry. The upperclass entries, into which this entry was also included, were exhibited. The idea was further developed as a product by concrete industry. The idea is that the two separately living shell structures are not structurally interlinked. In the competition entry the two dimesional facade can be perceived as three-dimensional because of the use of solid, transparent as well as translucent outer shell structures which penetrate light differently.This architectural idea is enabled by the douple shell structure.
