Karin Krokfors (born 1960). Began studies of architecture in Graz University of Technology 1981-82, McA degree in Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) 1983-91. Post graduate studies in Berlage Institute 1992, and as affiliate PhD in Bartlett School of Built Environment 2008-2009. Currently finishing design based PhD in HUT. Tought Urban Design and Housing in Helsinki University of Technology between 1994-2002. Has lectured, as well as acted as visiting critic in several architecture schools in Finland as well as in the UK and USA. Has published articles in architectural and urban design magazines and books. Has published book about typological flexibility in housing 2006. Works/projects published in: Arkkitehti (ARK), Japan architect, Monitor architecture, Landskap. Several rewarded domestic and international architectural competition entries. Awarded artist grant for architects (Arts Council of Finland) 1997 and 2003-2004.

 

Arvi Mäkitalo (born 1980). Master’s thesis on the creation and experiencing of spatial intensity, Helsinki University of Technology 2008. Worked as a freelance designer on mainly residential and renovation projects, 2004-2008. Currently involved as project architect in the Vanhankaupungin Kellokas experimental housing project. Researcher in the InnoSchool educational environment research project between 2006-2008. Researcher in the UI-ART augmented reality research project since 2008. Has written published articles in art and philosophical publications. Awarded for entries in International architectural competitions; Elemental Chile, 2003, Honourable Mention, Keitai City, DOCOMO 2005, Honourable Mention.
